HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Hartford man has been charged with murder in the death of a 45-year-old woman.

Officers were dispatched Wednesday to the apartment of Luz Nieves for a well-being check. Police found her dead after being stabbed.

Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police arrested Alex Baez-Franqui on Wednesday. The 40-year-old Hartford man, who may have been Nieves’s ex-boyfriend, was charged with murder. He’s being held on a $1 million bond.

It wasn’t known Thursday morning if Baez-Franqui is represented by a lawyer.
