APPLETON, Wis. (AP) - An Appleton woman charged with killing her husband is accused of attacking another inmate at the Outagamie County Jail.

Mastella Jackson is facing new charges of battery by a prisoner and disorderly conduct. Prosecutors say Jackson punched and kicked another inmate on Oct. 18.

The 37-year-old Jackson is accused of fatally stabbing Derrick Whitlow at a Grand Chute motel. Authorities say Jackson admitted to killing her husband after she was arrested in February 2012.

Post-Crescent Media (https://post.cr/1Gt2Tyv ) says a judge later tossed out the confession and criticized Grand Chute police for failing to read Miranda rights within the first hour of their interview with Jackson. The judge says investigators also failed to inform Jackson of her right to remain silent.
