CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The Kentucky Health Cooperative says it’s postponing its entrance into West Virginia’s health care marketplace for one year.

The cooperative had first announced in May that it would enter the state’s marketplace in 2015.

But officials said Thursday that the cooperative is delaying that move year amid concerns its infrastructure is not yet prepared to handle demand in the state.

The Charleston Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1tN4NoJ) that cooperative officials fully expect the West Virginia Health Cooperative to be functional by Jan. 1, 2016.

Health insurance cooperatives are designed to provide an alternative to state-provided and single-payer insurance coverage.
