AUBURN, Maine (AP) - A grand jury has indicted a Lewiston man on a manslaughter charge in connection with the bathtub death of his infant son.

The Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/1GsE2ej) reports that the grand jury said 27-year-old Sean St. Amand “did recklessly or with criminal negligence” cause the death of his 11-month-old son.

Police say St. Amand placed his son in a bathtub with the boy’s 2-year-old sister on Oct. 20 while their mother was asleep elsewhere in the apartment.

Investigators say St. Amand left the room for an undetermined amount of time and when he returned, the boy was unresponsive. The baby was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are awaiting autopsy results. It was not clear of St. Amand had a lawyer.
