FREEPORT, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island say a man was robbed by two men who asked him for the time and if he could call a taxi for them.

Police say the 22-year-old victim was approached by the suspects at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Freeport.

Police say when the victim took out his cell phone, one of the suspects produced a handgun while the other suspect grabbed the victim.

Police say they robbed the man of his cell phone, keys, driver’s license and cash. Before fleeing, they struck him in the mouth with the handgun.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 1-800-244-TIPS.
