NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - A Nebraska grand jury has ruled that officers didn’t break the law in two separate in-custody deaths over the summer.

The North Platte Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/1E7LszC ) the 16-member jury on Wednesday cleared officers in the deaths of 26-year-old Christopher Tidball and 43-year-old Christopher Taylor.

North Platte Police Department officers were found not responsible in the death of Tidball, who shot himself at his home when officers responded to a report of assault. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Jurors say members of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office weren’t criminally negligent in the death of Taylor, who was found unconscious in his jail cell on July 31. He was pronounced dead on Aug. 6.
