PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Gov.-elect Gina Raimondo has met with Gov. Lincoln Chafee to discuss plans for a transition.

The two Democrats met Thursday afternoon in Chafee’s office.

Before the meeting, Raimondo said she wants to get advice from Chafee. Among the topics they said they planned to discuss was the pending lawsuit against the state over the landmark pension overhaul.

Raimondo says she’s ready to go and there’s a lot of work to do. Chafee says he knows the state is in good hands.

Raimondo announced that her longtime aide Joy Fox will head her transition team. She also named several team members, including state Rep. Joe Shekarchi, businessman Jon Duffy and Carol Grant, a former director of operations in Providence under David Cicilline.

Raimondo defeated Republican Allan Fung on Tuesday. Chafee did not seek re-election.
