RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a trooper manning a stretch of Interstate 90 east of Rapid City made two large drug busts in two days.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1tgHFtq ) that the back-to-back busts netted 30 pounds of marijuana, dozens of tranquilizers, an illegal handgun and five arrests.

The first bust came Saturday when the trooper stopped a car for following another vehicle too closely. A drug dog uncovered 15 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

The second bust was Sunday, when the trooper spotted a car with expired license plates. The trooper searched the vehicle and found 15 pounds of marijuana, tranquilizers and a hidden pistol.
