NEWARK, Del. (AP) - A Wilmington man who crashed into a stopped car along State Route 1 in Newark has died of his injuries.

Delaware State Police say 69-year-old Ralph Fausnaugh was just north of the split for the Interstate 95 northbound ramp and Delaware Route 7 on Tuesday when his car veered to the right and hit another car parked on the right-hand shoulder of the roadway.

The second car was hit so hard that it struck the endcap of a guardrail. Fausnaugh’s car traveled across the highway and came to rest on the shoulder. Fausnaugh, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The people inside the second car, a 37-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man from Bear, were treated and released for minor injuries. They were wearing seatbelts.
