ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - St. Simons Island will be serving plenty of barbecue and oysters, craft beer and bourbon during its third Food and Spirits Festival.

The coastal Georgia festival opens Wednesday and runs through the weekend. Barbecue pit masters on Wednesday night will be cooking grilled beer-can quail and other items paired with craft beers. Pro golfers will take on seasoned barbecue smokers in a cook-off Thursday. On Friday, award-winning chef Hugh Acheson will take part in a five-course feast. Local chefs will serve up an “oyster fest” on Saturday night.

Tickets to individual events during the five-day festival run from $25 to $200. Money raised by the event goes to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
