ATLANTA (AP) - Mitt Romney is raising money and support for two key Republicans on the ballot in Georgia this year.

The former GOP presidential candidate attended a Wednesday fundraiser in Atlanta for Senate candidate David Perdue before heading to a campaign event with Attorney General Sam Olens.

Both Perdue and Olens say they’re excited Romney took the time to visit Georgia, noting he remains popular among the state’s voters who backed him with 53 percent of the vote in 2012.

Romney says he appreciates Perdue’s business background and that he’s stepping into politics at the end of his career rather than at the beginning.

Perdue faces Democrat Michelle Nunn on Nov. 4 in one of the most closely watched races in the country as Republicans look to gain control of the Senate.
