CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) - Trial has been set for a Charles City man accused of making threatening statements against schoolchildren.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/YLAFNy ) that 48-year-old Loren Todd Saxon will stand trial on Oct. 16 in Floyd County District Court for allegedly threatening to shoot children

Saxon pleaded not guilty last week on counts of making terroristic threats and public intoxication. Police reports say Saxon was heavily intoxicated while at a motel in Charles City on Aug. 24. According to officers, Saxon said he was a member of the al-Qaida terrorist organization and that he would shoot as many children as he could. He was not armed at the time.
