MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin attorney general hopeful Brad Schimel has launched his first television ad.

Schimel, a Republican, currently serves as Waukesha County’s district attorney. His Democratic opponent, Susan Happ, is the Jefferson County district attorney.

His ad shows him with his daughters, in a courtroom and chatting in the Waukesha County courthouse.

An unseen narrator calls him a decorated prosecutor who puts public safety over politics, fights crime and stands up for victims. The narrator cites Schimel’s prosecution of a Pewaukee alderman and a Racine police officer who were both accused of abusing their stepchildren.

Schimel’s campaign says the 30-second spot is slated to run statewide.

The ad makes no mention of Happ. Her campaign manager, Josh Lease, scoffed at the claim that Schimel puts public safety over politics.
