CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A 31-year-old Casper man who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a young boy seven years ago has been sentenced to 25 to 35 years in prison.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/ZjwyZ6 ) Derek Alexander McCollum was sentenced Friday for first-degree sexual assault of a 5-year-old boy in 2007. The new sentence will be served concurrently with a 10-year sentence he is now serving in Missouri for sexual exploitation of a minor.

McCollum’s attorney negotiated a plea deal that dropped a second charge of first-degree sexual assault that allegedly occurred in 2008 and allowed both sentences to be served concurrently. That deal was announced in July.
