ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A full-scale replica of the ship Henry Hudson sailed when he discovered the river that now bear his name could be heading to a new home across the Atlantic.

Chip Reynolds, captain of the Half Moon, sent an email to supporters Thursday to inform them that the head of the New Netherland Museum in Albany is in talks with officials at a museum in The Netherlands about taking ownership of the vessel.

Reynolds says the Half Moon’s operation has become “financially unsustainable.”

The Albany museum operates the Half Moon, which was launched in New York’s capital 25 years ago. It has served a floating classroom for New York students the past 15 years.

Reynolds says representatives from the Westfries Museum in Hoom, The Netherlands, toured the ship last weekend.
