LAKE SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - A 61-year-old man has been convicted of killing his sister and elderly parents at their home in southwest Florida.

A jury found Thomas Moak guilty on three counts of second-degree murder Friday in the February 2012 slayings.

Authorities said Moak told investigators there were escalating issues between him and his sister and that he “snapped.” Defense attorneys argued Moak was insane at the time of the crimes.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune (https://tinyurl.com/oasklb8) reports that relatives said Moak had a history with depression, was divorced from his wife, had a son serving in Afghanistan, was unemployed and was living with and caring for his aging parents.

Eighty-two-year-old Isabelle Moak, 80-year-old Thomas Moak, Sr., and 62-year-old Renee O’Connor were all killed.

Moak will be sentenced in November.
