SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Savannah fire officials say they’re using a $300,000 federal grant to support its maritime and hazard preparation programs.

Officials said in a statement that the port security matching grant is being administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Fire department officials say they’re planning to use the money to buy marine and industrial firefighting equipment and pay for maritime operations and fire training.
