NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Crossville man has been indicted in connection with his wife’s murder.

On Thursday, a special Cumberland County grand jury charged 39-year-old Matthew Owens with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 47-year-old Nina K. Owens.

Special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating the discovery of skeletal remains in Cumberland County on Sept. 27. Forensic analysis later identified the remains as those of Nina Owens, who had been reported missing by her sister a month earlier.

During the course of the investigation, authorities developed information that led to her husband.

Matthew Owens is being held in the Cumberland County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Jail records do not list an attorney for Owens.
