DENVER (AP) - An 85-year-old driver has acknowledged he was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Denver.

KMGH-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1tME1by ) Marshall Smith pleaded guilty Friday to criminally negligent homicide in the Jan. 9 death of 63-year-old Leanna Hund. He was sentenced to two years of probation.

Hund was in a crosswalk when she was hit and dragged 20 feet on Colorado Boulevard near East Exposition Avenue. Witnesses led police to Smith’s vehicle.

A jury recently returned a $1 million judgment against Smith, finding him at fault in the death. Hund’s estate was awarded $60,000 in economic damages, $340,000 for pain and suffering and $600,000 in punitive damages.
