WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) - The man piloting a medical helicopter during a deadly crash in North Texas tells officials the aircraft spun out of control shortly before crashing onto a street and bursting into flames.

The patient being transported was killed in the Oct. 4 crash while a flight nurse died Wednesday of her injuries. A medical crewman and the pilot were injured.

The Wichita Falls Times Record News (https://bit.ly/1vaYTPx ) says pilot Zechariah Smith talks about what happened in a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board.

Smith said the flight from Waurika, Oklahoma, where they’d picked up a shooting victim, was uneventful until they approached the United Regional Health Care Systems in Wichita Falls.

He says the helicopter spun at least five times before hitting the ground and landed inverted.
