SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police officers have spent several hours searching a Syracuse lake, but officials aren’t revealing exactly what they were looking for.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1qvOgiH ) that several officers wore waders Thursday while searching in knee-deep water in Hiawatha Lake at Onondaga Park.

A police spokesman says the officers were searching for evidence, but declined to say what the search involved or what type of evidence they were seeking.

The officers used long-handled rakes to search the bottom of the lake, which is part of the 80-acre park and was once used as a reservoir.
