PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a light rail train struck and killed a pedestrian Friday evening in east Portland.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says the man was hit by an eastbound MAX train at 160th Avenue and East Burnside Street.

Light rail service in both directions was temporarily stopped and a section of East Burnside was temporarily closed during the investigation.

The victim was not immediately identified.
