PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - President Barack Obama plans to deliver remarks on the economy in Rhode Island next week, his second trip to the state in recent months.

A White House spokesman says the president will be in Rhode Island on Thursday. He was in Newport in late August for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser. The event was private.

No other details about the visit were announced.

Rhode Island is getting a string of high-profile visitors. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie campaigned for GOP gubernatorial nominee Allan Fung on Friday. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is holding a fundraiser for the Cranston mayor on the same day of Obama’s visit.

There was no immediate word from Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Raimondo on whether she will be campaigning with Obama.
