POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) - Work on the $12.5 million, 78-acre Portneuf Wellness Complex intended to improve the health of southeast Idaho residents by providing physical activities is advancing.

The Idaho State Journal (https://bit.ly/1vR9ddf) reports that the Portneuf Health Care Foundation is paying for the project that’s scheduled to be finished by next fall.

The complex will have seven multi-use athletic fields, four sand volleyball courts and three basketball courts.

There will also be miles of paved walkways, an amphitheater for 11,000 people and a 6.35-acre urban fishing pond with a beach and swimming area.

President and CEO of the Portneuf Health Care Foundation Shaun Menchaca on a tour of the area Thursday said the big amphitheater will help attract well-known musical performers.
