OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - A school bus driver in the Ocean Springs School District arrested for alleging molesting a child while the girl was riding the bus has now been charged with 31 additional counts.

Sergio Ardo Sandoval, 64, initially was arrested Thursday at his home on one count of touching of a child for lustful purposes. Police Detective Capt. William Jackson said the additional charges were added Friday after further investigation. No other details were released.

The school district fired Sandoval on Wednesday, a day after the child’s parents reported he had touched the child’s private area while they were riding the bus. The age of the child was not released.

Sandoval is currently in the Ocean Springs jail, with his total bond set at $320,000. He will remain in jail pending a preliminary hearing Wednesday in municipal court.

Jackson said the investigation is continuing.

Schools Superintendent Dr. Bonita Coleman-Potter said district officials reviewed the video from the bus as soon as they were aware of the allegations earlier this week.

Coleman-Potter said Sandoval has worked for the school district since 2006. She said Sandoval drove students to and from four different schools, from elementary school to high school.
