NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Forecasters say severe thunderstorms are possible today in the Red River Valley of southern Oklahoma and northern Texas. Strong storms are also possible in the Tennessee Valley.

The Storm Prediction Center said Friday storms are possible from the Red River area eastward into the southern Appalachians. Some storms in Oklahoma, Texas and the Tennessee Valley could be strong to severe.

A cold front will run from the Texas Panhandle into the Ohio River Valley and the central Appalachians. The strongest storms will be ahead of the cold front.

The main threats are hail and high winds. Once the sun sets this evening, the severe threat should drop.
