LIBERTY, S.C. (AP) - The Pickens County coroner says two people have died in a shooting at an apartment complex in Liberty.

Coroner Kandy Kelley said 22-year-old Houston Chapman and 42-year-old Steven Chapman died from gunshot wounds Friday afternoon.

Kelley identified Houston Chapman as Steven Chapman’s nephew. She said Houston Chapman died at the scene and Steven Chapman was pronounced dead at Baptist Easley Hospital.

There was no word on the condition of the third person, whose identity wasn’t released. There have been no arrests so far.

The apartment complex is less than a quarter of a mile away from Liberty Middle School. Pickens Schools spokesman John Eby said the district didn’t put the school on lockdown after consulting with police.
