DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A downtown Des Moines skyscraper damaged during a March fire that gutted the adjacent Younkers building will soon see hundreds of its windows replaced.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1D39zkk ) that EMC Insurance Co. is getting ready to replace 616 windows damaged during the Younkers fire.

The repair project is expected to cost $1.5 million.

Before construction can start, a team of experts will check to make sure there are no safety hazards.

Crews are set to start replacing the windows Monday evening. The project is expected to take eight weeks to complete.
