AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Austin police say a 21-year-old student has died after taking the synthetic hallucinogenic drug Ecstasy with friends during the Austin City Limits Music Festival’s opening a week ago.

Police say Jessica Hunter’s friends sought help Sunday after she became ill and was flailing her arms and legs.

The student at Texas State University in San Marcos was taken to a hospital where she died Wednesday.

Her parents, described as from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, tell the Austin American-Statesman (https://bit.ly/1s5l4Ti ) they hope her death sends a message about the dangers of illegal drug use. Debra Hunter says her mission now is to visit schools and tell others about the tragedy of seeing her daughter laying lifeless in bed.
