ATLANTA (AP) - The second half of the Duke-Georgia Tech game has finally started after a delay of 1 hour, 17 minutes because of severe thunderstorms moving through the Atlanta area.

The teams were warming up for the second-half kickoff when the skies suddenly darkened, prompting officials to send both teams back to their locker rooms.

The fans were ordered to evacuate Bobby Dodd Stadium until the storms passed. It rained heavily for a brief period, but there was never any sign of lighting. When the sun broke through the clouds, the fans were let back into the stadium.

Duke (4-1) began the second half with a 14-12 lead over No. 22 Georgia Tech (5-0), one of 10 unbeaten teams remaining in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
