MULLICA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man pulled from a burning car after it crashed on a southern New Jersey roadway is now hospitalized in critical condition.

Mullica Township police tell NJ.com (https://bit.ly/1xDMyRT) that 26-year-old township resident Randy Jordan suffered severe burns in the crash, which occurred around 12:15 p.m. Saturday on Richards Avenue in the Atlantic County community.

He initially was trapped inside the vehicle, but police and other emergency responders were able to free him a short time later.

Jordan apparently was traveling alone in the car, and it was not immediately clear whether any other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
