MIAMI (AP) - Miami-Dade County police say they have raided 13 marijuana indoor growing operations and arrested 11 suspects connected with them.

Authorities say the simultaneous raids earlier this week resulted in seizure of at least 500 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $2 million on the street.

South Florida has long been a center of marijuana grow-house activity.

In addition to the arrests and pot seizure, police confiscated six weapons.

Detectives warn that grow houses pose dangers of violence in addition to hazards from illegal diversion of electricity, poor ventilation and noxious chemicals.

The suspects arrested are facing multiple charges.
