NEW LEBANON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a New York man has been arrested on charges he hid his cellphone in a public restroom and used it to make unlawful videos.

The incident happened Friday evening in the town of New Lebanon, southeast of Albany.

The sheriff’s department says someone called to report seeing the phone while using a convenience store restroom.

Sheriff David P. Bartlett says the phone was hidden in crumpled tissue and was set to record video.

Officers arrested 36-year-old Sam Wassilie on a charge of unlawful surveillance.

Wassilie, of New Lebanon, was arraigned on the charge and is due back in court Thursday. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
