UTICA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man is in critical condition after being shot by police during a shooting at a bar in upstate New York that left four people wounded.

The Utica Observer-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1w03N0B ) says it happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday outside the Level Bar and Lounge in Utica.

Police tell the newspaper a Utica police officer and a state trooper were driving by the area when they heard gunshots and saw people running from the bar on Bleecker Street and suspect Calvin Dennis firing his weapon.

Police say the Utica officer got out of the vehicle and shot the suspect. A gun was recovered at the scene

Two of the shooting victims were hospitalized in serious condition, one is in stable condition and a fourth was treated and released.
