GARDENA, Calif. (AP) - Three people who called police in a city near Los Angeles saying a man tried to kidnap them were arrested when authorities found the alleged kidnapper dead.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1uXCZ0S ) that Gardena police responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping around 5 p.m. Friday. According to the caller, the would-be victims had knocked out the man who tried to take them.

Officers found a man, woman and 15-year-old - and the alleged kidnapper unconscious inside their truck.

Paramedics could not revive the man, whose identity was not released.

After further investigation, police arrested the three callers. No further details were immediately available.
