ANDALUSIA, Ala. (AP) - When he’s not handling divorce or child custody cases, Andalusia attorney Bill Alverson puts his courtroom skills to another use- coaching beauty pageant contestants.

So far, Alverson is on a roll. WSFA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1vgP0Qf ) he coached Miss New York Kira Kazantsev before she was crowned Miss America last month. He worked with the last two Miss Americas before her as well.

As a pageant coach, Alverson mainly helps his clients focus on their onstage interviews. He says his approach is to be “honest and transparent,” though some find his coaching style a bit harsh.

Not Ashley Ivey of Montgomery. She’s been working with Alverson to prepare for the Miss Alabama USA pageant next month. She says he helps contestants “see the good in themselves” while and building their self-confidence.
