ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Veterans Affairs officials have announced the head of a Florida VA facility will oversee its health care systems in the Southwest.

The New Mexico VA Health Care System said Friday that Kathleen Fogarty will take over as acting director of the VA’s Southwest Health Care Network.

Fogarty is currently the hospital director of the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa.

The Southwest system includes facilities in Arizona, New Mexico as well as three Texas cities - Amarillo, Big Spring and El Paso. The region includes embattled VA hospitals in Phoenix and Albuquerque.

Fogarty will temporarily work out of Gilbert, Arizona.

She told the Tampa Tribune (https://bit.ly/1ynbssl) that she will take on the job Nov. 17 but has no plans to leave Tampa.
