LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) - A coalition of students opposing a proposal from Jefferson County school board members to review curriculum of Advanced Placement U.S. history courses is postponing a recall effort to see if a compromise can be reached.

According to the Denver Post (https://tinyurl.com/p4ua5a6), Dusten Strock from the group Jeffco Students for Change says students are hopeful after the school board approved a measure that would reorganize existing curriculum review groups in the district to involve more student, teacher and community voices.

Newly revised AP U.S. history courses give greater attention to the history of North America and its native people before colonization and their clashes with Europeans. Critics including school board members say it downplays the settlers’ success in establishing a new nation.
