COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - It will cost more money to hold an event at the Trotter Convention Center in Columbus.
The Commercial Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1q7NfxQ ) the city council approve the rate increase requested by Trotter Center Director Frank Goodman this past week.
The fee for events where tickets are sold will cost $1,200 for the first day and $600 for each day thereafter. Rental fees for private functions such as weddings will now cost $1,000 per day and $500 for each succeeding day.
The increases also apply to the lower level meeting room, which can be split into three separate spaces.
For one of those spaces, it now costs $300 per day. The rental fee for two spaces is $500 and $250 for each succeeding day. For the whole lower level, those amounts are $700 and $350, respectively. The rental fee for the downstairs kitchen is now $100 a day.
The new fees do not apply to events already booked in 2015.
The last rental fee increase at the Trotter Center was approved in 2007.
Goodman said with a $2.3 million renovation in progress on the facility, now was the right time to request the new fees. They will cover a professional furnished by the city to run the building’s new sound and lighting systems.
The renovation includes lighting, mill work, new flooring and tiling, lighting improvements, a new front wall and a new air-conditioning unit and roofing.
