PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Vaccine researchers who have gathered in Providence for an annual conference are discussing the fight against Ebola.

The University of Rhode Island’s Institute for Immunology and Informatics is holding its 8th Annual Vaccine Renaissance Conference Monday through Thursday in Providence.

Institute director Dr. Anne de Groot spoke about experimental Ebola vaccines in development on the first day of the conference. She said researchers are working to determine if they will be effective.

The attendees include representatives from the Food and Drug Administration, National Institutes of Health and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as leaders in vaccine research from prominent universities. The conference brings researchers together to talk about ways to develop better vaccines.
