MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Fans of a Madison coffee shop are fighting for the owner’s right to keep displaying a flapping windsock.

The bright orange windsock - known as “Wendy,” of course - has been flapping above Cargo Coffee shop for more than a decade.

But WISC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1sxPCP6 ) that could change after a city inspection found the windsock violates a city sign ordinance against “attention-getting objects” designed to move in the wind.

Owner Lindsey Lee says signage can be the only way for small independent businesses to stand out.

Supporters rallied for the coffee shop over the weekend.
