BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Two Terrebonne Parish men have been sentenced for illegal oyster fishing violations.

The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reports 39-year-old Fernando Carbajal and 25-year-old Jonathan Reyes, both of Houma, pleaded guilty before state District Judge George Lark to one count of taking oysters from an unapproved area in Seven Canal in Terrebonne Parish on June 26.

The department said Monday that Lark sentenced both men last week to 120 days in jail. The jail term will be suspended upon paying a $950 fine. He also revoked their oyster harvester license privileges for a year, ordered them to serve 40 hours of community service in the litter abatement program and put each on active probation for six months.
