OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Oxford Police Department are investigating an apparent murder-suicide.

Sheriff’s Department Investigator Alan Wilburn says Michael Orange was found dead about 9:20 a.m. Monday at his home. Wilburn says Orange died from a single gunshot wound to his head in what appears to be a suicide.

Wilburn says shortly later Oxford police found the body of Sharon Pegues Orange in a vehicle. She had several gunshot wounds.

Sheriff Buddy East says in a statement the couple had apparently been married but that it was not immediately clear whether they were still married before their deaths.
