OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin has named an Owasso oil and gas executive to the governing board of the Grand River Dam Authority.

Fallin announced Tuesday she selected Joe Vandevier to represent industrial and commercial interests on the seven-member board. Vandevier replaces Allen Wright on the panel, and his term will expire in 2015.

The GRDA was created by the Legislature in 1935 as a non-appropriated state agency to oversee the waters of Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma. The agency generates and sells electricity to Oklahoma cities, electric cooperatives and industrial consumers.

Vandevier is a 40-year veteran of the oil and gas industry and is the founder of Downhole Dynamics, which provides technical consulting for enhanced oil and gas production.
