SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities in southern Utah believe they have found the owner of a bull that escaped Monday, knocking over two women and smashing through several fences before being killed by police.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/11kMQma ) that Cedar City police Sgt. Jimmy Roden says officers are still investigating how the bull got loose and aren’t releasing the owner’s identity.

Roden says the bull didn’t have horns, but weighed at least 1,000 pounds.

Roden says police and animal control officers tried to corral the bull but ran out of options after it ran roughshod across Cedar City. He said animal control officers didn’t have the tools to tranquilize an animal that large.

The chase ended when one officer hit the bull, allowing another officer the chance to shoot and kill it.
