DOHA, Qatar (AP) - Qatar notched its first victory over Australia on Tuesday after a 61st-minute goal by Khalfan Ibrahim sealed a 1-0 win in an international friendly.

Ibrahim’s strike, after a poor clearance, completed a disappointing Middle East swing for Australia, which was held to a scoreless draw with the United Arab Emirates on Saturday. Coach Ange Postecoglou made eight changes for the Qatar match, the Socceroos’ 500th international.

Australia will play defending Asian Cup champion Japan at Osaka on Nov. 18, its final warm-up match ahead of the Asian Cup tournament it will host in January.
