AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Rep. John Barrow’s campaign says he’s got $1.5 million to spend on the home stretch of his re-election campaign, giving the Democrat a big cash advantage over his Republican opponent less than three weeks before Election Day.

GOP challenger Rick Allen of Augusta reported $118,237 remaining in his campaign account Wednesday. Both candidates - and their respective parties - are spending heavily on TV ads in eastern Georgia’s 12th District, where Barrow is seeking a sixth term in a seat drawn to favor Republicans.

Barrow’s campaign says he raised $682,931 in a three-month period ending Sept. 30. That brings Barrow’s total fundraising to more than $3 million.

Allen raised $328,567 during the quarter. His total fundraising has topped $1.7 million, which includes more than $574,000 in personal loans.
