ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A 35-year-old woman who admitted killing the wheelchair-bound Albany man she had been hired to help has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Sara Moore of Wynantskill apologized before she was sentenced in Albany County Court Tuesday for killing 79-year-old Richard Englander.

Moore was hired off Craigslist to care for Englander in his Albany home. Englander had multiple sclerosis that confined him to a wheelchair.

In February, employees at Englander’s bank called police when Moore tried to cash a personal check from his account. Police went to Englander’s home and found his body. He had been beaten and his throat was slashed.
