NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is holding a conference to discuss strategies to increase disability employment.

The conference on Wednesday is part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville.

Last year, Gov. Bill Haslam signed an executive order that created a task force composed of state agencies, families, consumer advocates and service providers to look at eliminating obstacles to employment for individuals with disabilities.

The task force recently completed its first report, outlining the progress it has already made and the steps it will take to expand competitive, integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
