SWISHER, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say they’re investigating an officer-involved shooting in eastern Iowa.

The state Department of Public Safety says deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded Monday to a report of a suicidal man. They identified him as 32-year-old Bradley Wayne McNeese, who is accused of fleeing the area and leading authorities on a chase near the community of Swisher.

The pursuit later came to an end and McNeese was injured. He was sent to an Iowa City hospital. Information about his condition is not available.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation shows McNeese and an officer discharged their weapons. The investigation also shows McNeese was injured by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The deputy, whose name has not been released, is on paid administrative leave.
